UPM-MAKNA CANCER RESEARCH LABORATORY (CANRES) |
| |
| The UPM-MAKNA Cancer Research Laboratory was established in 2005 with the primary aim of conducting research on cancers. The laboratory was established as a joint collaboration between the Majlis Kanser Nasional (MAKNA) and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in the pursuit of helping cancer stricken patients to find cure from the dreadful disease, help them cope with life once diagnoses made, while undergoing difficult and prolonged treatment regimes and life after cancer. The laboratory is trying to introduce screening services for the benefit initially of the UPM work force before it is introduced to the entire Malaysian population. The aim is achieved through collaboration with the established Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UPM and various laboratories in IBS, UPM. This concerted effort is aimed at tackling cancers through early detection and diagnosis. ‘Getting’ cancers at the early or preclinical stage will ensure almost a cure, which is the ultimate in cancer management. In order to achieve this, UPM-MAKNA researchers will collaborate with both the public and private sectors, hopefully to collaboratively utilize advanced state-of-the- art equipment and maximizing the utilization for the common good in the fight against cancer. |
