Laboratory of Industrial Biotechnology is a biotechnological research laboratory that improves and develops processes in which enzymes and microbial are important. This is done by gather the researchers which in similar research field from different faculty at UPM. This laboratory also incorporates state of the art, fully instrumented service units and the accompanying expertise for training program.

The laboratory also provides large scale pilot plant facilities to develop research findings first based on laboratory scales. These facilities are open to all UPM researchers as well as researchers from other institutions and private companies. With all these facilities and expertise, the commercialization of product production processes based on enzyme and microbial technology can be greatly enhanced.

Research facilities and pilot plants are also open to private companies for R&D and product production.

Production contracts that are given utmost priority are those related to enzyme technology, fermentation technology and bioprocess engineering, and which involve microbe, animal and plant cell cultures for the production of various biotechnology products.
