Education and work history

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ina Salwany Md Yasin field of expertise is fish molecular biology, which focuses on the investigation of changes in genes or biochemicals that are associated with growth, nutrition, and specific disease-causing pathogens. Currently, her research emphasizes on application of molecular biology in fish health management particularly in developing molecular diagnostics and fish vaccines. Molecular diagnosis can be a routine tool in the rapid detection of fish pathogens by sequencing the complete genomes of pathogens and the epidemiology of infectious fish diseases. For fish vaccines, the examination of the immune response in different fish species and molecular mechanisms associated with the fish immune response towards pathogens are studied that are important in aquaculture development.
