11 January 2024 - The Comparative Medicine and Technology Unit (COMeT) at the Institute of Bioscience, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), welcomed first-year students pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Science with Honors from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS), UPM. The visit was organised in two sessions, with the first session held on January 4, 2024, and the second session on January 11, 2024. Accompanying the students were Dr. Mohd Khairi Hussein, the SBP 3004 Course Coordinator, and a staff member from the Department of Biomedical Sciences, FMHS. The primary objective of the visit was to observe the research facility and operations involving laboratory rodents conducted by COMeT. While similar visits had occurred before the pandemic, a hiatus of two years was experienced due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
The delegates were divided into three groups, each engaging in different aspects of the visit. The first group participated in a briefing session, the second group completed a 93-question online quiz, and the final group toured the laboratory rodent facility. This rotational structure allowed all students to experience various aspects of COMeT's operations. To commemorate the visit, a group photo session was conducted at the end of the session.
