The Cancer Immunology and Therapy Program is an extensive field of research to study the interactions between tumours as therapeutic targets for cancer treatment. The immune system consists of a network of cells, signalling molecules and checkpoints for stimulation and inhibition. Knowledge on these interactions will potentially enables the immune system to be used effectively to target tumours through virotherapy, immuno-oncology prevention agents, and functional foods from biodiversity sources in Malaysia. In addition, novel therapeutic discoveries are important to reduce the high dependence on Western therapeutic resources and will support initiatives towards economic sustainability though the local healthcare industry. |
